3 Intelsat 707 operated co-located with the Sirius satellites at 1W from March 1996 until replaced by Intelsat 10-02 September 2004.
4 Intelsat 708 launched from Xichnag in China at 3am local time 14th February 1996. Inertial guidance on the Long March 3B failued just after launch, the rocket veered off course and was blown up 20 seconds into the flight. Official death toll was 6 with 567 injured, but unofficially there is suspicion that hundreds died and thousands were injured when the booster blew up over a village.
5 operated at 50W July 1996 to May 2002, then sent to 55.5W until May 2003. Moved to 85E August 2003.
