The Astra 1B footprints.

Poor old Astra 1B - out of use at 19.2E - has 4 separate footprint beams, two each for horizontal and vertical transmissions:

Horizontal Mode 1:     Transponders 17, 21, 25 & 29.

Horizontal Mode 2:     Transponders 23 & 27

Vertical Mode 1:    Transponder 28

Vertical Mode 2:    Transponder 30

This suggests that out of the original 16 transponder payload only 8 were still considered operational in late 2004.
